Polymer Slate Roof Perfect Fit for Coastal Maine Dream Home

Spatial Construction helps make dreams come true. Especially this dream home. The builder specializes in creating coastal Maine showcase homes. For one of their latest getaway retreats they decided on a polymer slate roof from DaVinci Roofscapes.

Why polymer? Because Spatial’ researched our Class 4 impact-rated product. Then they determined it is the best solution for Maine’s harsh coastal setting.

“It’s not just about handling strong weather conditions,” says J. Chad Laird, owner of Spatial Construction out of Bedford, New Hampshire. “Building on the coast means choosing exterior products that stand up to salt air and sea spray. In addition, searing sun and humidity.

“I like what I saw with the DaVinci product. Because this structure is so very close to the shore, my roofing decision takes into account the Lifetime Limited Warranty of the roof along with its easy maintenance features.”

Creating a Home that LastsDream Home

Located about 75 feet from the rocky Maine shores, the custom home created by Spatial is a haven for a New Hampshire family. Just 50 short miles from their primary home, this coastal dream home is constructed for easy, low-maintenance living.

From every room in the home there’s an ocean view. Designed with a classic New England profile, the home is made to last. Hurricane-proof windows and sliding patio doors help offer protection from Mother Nature. In addition, engineered polymer trim and deck flooring are included in the design.

Topping off the 5,000-square-foot home is a DaVinci Single-Width Slate composite roof. The Slate Black color complements the weathered gray exterior siding.

Selecting the Right Roof

The polymer tiles are constructed of a composite material. Virgin resins, UV and thermal stabilizers are in the material. In addition, there is a highly-specialized fire retardant. The result is a state-of-the-art tile that gives DaVinci an end product that endures beautifully in any climate.

Each Single-Width Slate tile from DaVinci Roofscapes is Class A rated for fire. Similarly, the product is Class 4 rated for impact and certified to wind speeds up to 110mph. Approved for use in direct coastal areas, the polymer roof tiles are ideally made for coastal Maine conditions.

“The homeowners are very pleased with this home and the roof,” says Laird. “The beautiful appearance and old-world charm have won them over. They especially appreciate the natural look of the slate and its maintenance-free feature.”

Builder’s Perspective

“As a builder, I enjoyed working with many of the DaVinci team members,” says Laird. “Liz Foley, the Customer Service Supervisor, sent us tons of samples. After that, she was very happy to assist us during the decision-making days.

“DaVinci has an outstanding product. It’s a worry-free polymer roof that also gives me peace-of-mind. I know this is the best roof we could have installed on this beautiful home.”
