Listen to Your Neighbors

Hail and wind damage recently destroyed the stone-coated steel roof on the Gummerson home in Southlake, Texas. After the storm, Matthew Gummerson started searching for a new roof. Several neighbors, homeowners and contractors told him about DaVinci Roofscapes.

“So many people had good things to say about DaVinci products that it became the only roofing product we seriously considered,” says Gummerson.

Top Down Support

To help in his research, Gummerson reached out directly to DaVinci Roofscapes. His inquiries were met with enthusiastic support.

“We decided to restore our entire exterior of our 6,700-square-foot home,” says Gummerson. “That includes the roof, stucco exterior, fascia, trim, gutters and chimney caps. In addition, we have a guest house and outdoor gazebo. We went all in to restore the exteriors on those structures at the same time.

“I needed information and guidance with color selections. Ashley Cisetti, a DaVinci Project Specialist, and I spoke and swapped emails multiple times. She helped connect us with the local DaVinci sales rep, who then introduced us to our general contractor, Tice Enterprises.”

Cisetti also introduced Gummerson to DaVinci’s color consultant, Kate Smith.

“We found a color palette of Kate’s on the website,” says Gummerson. “We were considering Slate Black or Black Oak as our roofing colors. She really helped give us color advice from the top of our home down.”

The Gummersons followed Smith’s advice and used Black Oak on the roof. The mature, almost black bark coloring looks like dark, aged cedar on a home.

Moving down the house, a Dhurrie Beige from Sherwin-Williams was selected as the main color for the stucco exterior. Kestrel White, also from Sherwin-Williams, was chosen for the fascia and stucco trim color.

“The Black Oak has brown highlights that match the dark brown components of the guest house and gazebo,” says Gummerson. “The colors we selected blend extremely well together. They give our property a refreshed, modern appearance.”

Faith in Your Contractor

When it came time to replace the 10-year old roof shingles, the team from Tice Enterprises found lots of damage.

“The hail storm left this roof in terrible condition,” says Joe Henderson with Tice Enterprises. “You could easily see why the roof was leaking so badly. We couldn’t wait to get the DaVinci product installed.

“Our company completes about 15 DaVinci projects a year. They’re all beautiful when finished. Even more important, the roofs are durable. They can withstand severe weather and winds up to 110mph. And, with a Class 4 impact rating, a DaVinci roof can easily handle any future hail storms in our area.”

Select Shake was installed by the Tice Enterprises team on top of the Gummerson’s three structures.

Created with the authentic look of real cedar shake taken from natural wood profiles, the multi-width composite shake tiles have a traditional cedar shake look. The tiles come in 8- and 10-inch widths. The 10-inch wide pieces have a simulated keyway, giving the appearance of 4- and 6-inch width shakes placed together.

“The Select Shake Black Oak is an impressive roof,” says Gummerson. “Each shingle has a thickness that is very realistic. The beautiful natural color of the Black Oak is simply spectacular.

“We feel this new roof has definitely increased both the curb appeal and value of our home. The entire project is a stunning transformation. We went from a dull roof to a stand-out, statement-making roof. Now, when neighbors ask us about our new roof, we tell them to listen to us … and choose a DaVinci roof!”
