Homeowners Select Composite Slate for Arkansas Ranch

Seen from the air, the Brengard home may remind you of the homestead on the old TV show Dallas. The popular 1980s television series was set on a Texas ranch. This home is also located on a ranch, but in Arkansas.

When the Brengards decided to build their family home in 2019, they chose an ideal location in the middle of their 80-acre horse ranch in Paragould, where they breed quarter horses. As they made choices on the building materials used to construct their new house, they paid special attention to their roof selection.

“We live in an area that has many storms roll through at all times of the year,” says homeowner Tracy Brengard. “It’s common for people to have a basement or storm shelter. Selecting a roof that can resist severe weather was very important to us. That’s one reason why we were impressed with the DaVinci Roofscapes products.”

Top Down Color

According to Brengard, their desire was to incorporate a slate look for their roof. After researching products and speaking with their builder, the homeowners chose DaVinci Multi-Width Slate in a Castle Gray color.

“This gray tone was the perfect choice for our home,” says Brengard. “We have blue stone and white painted brick as the other exterior colors. The cool gray color brings all of that together.

“We like the look, low maintenance and overall aesthetics of the DaVinci slate. This product has a very realistic appearance. Rustic in a way, yet elegant.

“The low maintenance of this composite slate compared to a real slate roof is incredible. And, we know we can depend on the impact resistance of this composite roofing product to help keep our home safe.”

Stand-Out Copper Accents

Arkansas RanchThe team at Jonesboro Roofing installed the composite slate roof on this main home, pool house and connecting breezeway during construction of the house.

“This was a really special project for us,” says Brandon Moore, project manager with Jonesboro Roofing Co., Inc. out of Jonesboro, Arkansas. “Along with the DaVinci slate tiles, we also installed 6-inch copper half round gutters and some standing seam copper roofs. The crew at Modern Exterior Concepts LLC really helped bring this project to life.

“We’ve installed these types of composite roofs in our area for about 10 years. The price point compared to real slate is impressive. As an alternative to natural slate, you really can’t get any better than the DaVinci composite roofing. You get great aesthetics, low maintenance and long-term peace-of-mind.”

Roofing Compliments

With their home now built, the Brengards are enjoying their Arkansas ranch … and their roof.

“We’ve had many compliments on the roof,” says Brengard. “People ask lots of questions about it. We’re very pleased with the look, but even more so with the durability.

“Recently we had a tornado warning with high winds. Thankfully for us, the tornado touched down south of our home, and our area was spared. However, we did have small hail as part of the storm. So far, there have been no issues with the roof at all. We’re extremely happy with our choice and have recommended it to others.”
