That’s a Lot of Roof

One look at the new office building designed by CLH Architects in Elkhorn, Nebraska immediately shows you a massive roof design. Now the headquarters for CLH Architects, the design team there decided on a Canyon clay color of composite slate tiles to top the structure.

“We selected the Canyon color to most resemble the tones of real clay tiles,” says Calvin L. Hinz, president of CLH Architects. “This color harmonizes with the brick on the building exterior while looking like a true clay tile.”

Specified by the architectural firm due to its durability, the single-width slate tiles from DaVinci Roofscapes are impact resistant. “We needed a roof that would resist the damaging hail we oftentimes get in this area,” says Hinz. “Plus, we’re located right on a golf course, so we had to make sure the roofing product we selected would also resist stray golf balls.”

With a Class 4 impact resistance rating, the half-inch thick single-width composite slate tiles are ideal for the building’s Nebraska setting. As a bonus, the tiles also resist fire, algae, splitting, insects and cracking.

Under One Roof

“We have 17 people in our firm at this office,” says Hinz. “And, we truly feel good about the DaVinci roof overhead. In fact, we’re so pleased with the authentic look and durability of the composite slate roof that we’re starting to specify it on other projects.”

No-Hassles Roofing

Versatile and durable, the construction of the DaVinci single-width composite slate tiles streamlines installation while allowing for the flexibility of a straight or staggered appearance. The uniform tile size and impact-resistant composite construction work to reduce waste and speed up installation at the jobsite.

“It’s no surprise that the CLH Architects team specified our dependable composite slate roof for their headquarters project,” says Michael Cobb, vice president of sales and marketing for DaVinci Roofscapes. “DaVinci roofs live up to the look of nature, but without the ongoing hassles of maintenance, repair and replacement.

“The tiles on this building — just like all our other projects — are crafted with the greatest degree of color control and consistency in the manufacturing process. The result is an enduring roof that performs beautifully and can handle both challenging weather conditions and the occasional stray golf ball!”
