Boston Hips

One of the things that make DaVinci synthetic slate tiles look great is their uncommon thickness when compared with steep slope roofing products. They are ½” thick at butt which adds a dimension and shadow line to your roof. In order to make that dramatic thickness possible, affordable, and to give it the strength necessary for high performance, DaVinci utilizes a highly engineered rib-structure on the underside.

For some installers,  this rib-structure of DaVinci’s manufactured slate tiles presents some challenges when installing the hip and ridge. In some geographical areas a Boston Hip, where the hip and ridge pieces are cut off flush with the eaves line, is normal practice.   This can easily be achieved with DaVinci Slate with a few easy steps. See the video to help clarify the Boston Hip process.
